Leather and Cork Coaster Set

These leather coasters were initially introduced to our store as a Kickstarter reward, but stuck around as a shop favourite. Made by us, in East Vancouver. Made from 8oz (aka thick) vegetable tanned leather that is available in undyed (will patina with age), black, dark brown, light brown, and a mixed pack.

- Backed with a thin layer of cork for grip

These coasters are sometimes made from off-cuts of our hides to help reduce waste. All leather comes with natural variance in tone and may contain small imperfections that will not impeed the longevity of the coasters. Vegetable tanned leather is one of the old methods of global tanning and is known for it’s extremely long life (60+ years) and firm nature.
The undyed vegetable tanned leather will arrive very pale and will patina with age! By this we mean that this leather will darken in spots as it’s exposed to sun and oils. Typically it will deepen rapidly in the first two months and then slowly over the next sixty-or-so years. A good patina is well-earned and cherished by many leather-lovers!
